Self Tanner Drops

So I dove (cannonballed, really) into the world of self tanners. And as is the case with me…. I went ALL IN.  Fortunately, when I got the bug, the drug stores had them on sale.  Pretty much all buy one get on, or some other discount.  I’m looking forward to giving them all a go.  (I test them on my legs first because if something goes awry, it’s easy to cover up.)

I tan super easy and hold onto it for FOREVER. So this isn’t really a necessity, but I haven’t had a chance to really get outside and I’m sick of being pale.  Plus I like to tinker with my appearance and I’ve already whapped off my hair.  So. Here we are.

Contrary to how it may appear, I don’t wear a lot of makeup daily.  In fact, I don’t wear makeup everyday.  And when I do, I don’t pile on the bronzer. This was starting to be problematic as my body got darker…. and my face did not.  I know my face is never as deep as the rest of me, but it was starting to look really strange.  And starting to border on disconcerting.

As you can see I’m not a DEEP color….but I’m not pasty.

I didn’t want to slather body lotion on my face. And I was hesitant to add yet another step to my skincare routine. It was looking like I was either going to have to use bronzer or be pale. Neither was good.

And then…… I went to Ulta

That’s right, it’s making a second appearance

I swear, I heard a choir of angels. This was the answer to my prayers. You add it to whatever moisturizer you want! So you don’t have to swap out a product. Or add a new step in (beyond dropping it into your moisturizer). It’s a miracle!

You start with a minimum of 3. Which will give a verrrry subtle glow by morning. Personally, I double it. 1) I need my face to catch up and 2) this gives me enough product to pull it down my neck. This way you can make sure the coverage is even.

Even though the drops are colored, it doesn’t tint the moisturizer. I’ve been using it for a couple days now, and I haven’t had a problem with patchiness. Just make sure you rub it in well. And do wash your hands after – they will be stained otherwise.

Do not get clever and try to use it by itself. I dabbed a little bit on my hand. It was NOT a flattering color. Let’s just leave it at that.

Before is on the right, after is on the left

Since I haven’t been using it that long, and it’s very subtle, the change isn’t DRASTIC – plus the tan color just doesn’t seem to pick up on camera as much.  I concede the lighting in my bathroom makes the difference OBVIOUS.  But when I hold my shoulder up to my face, it looks much closer than how it did previously.

I am incredibly happy with how it’s turning out.  As for how I’ll cope with my foundation being lighter down the line……hello, drugstore!
